Program Profile

International Labor Organization (ILO) data show that approximately 350,000 people worldwide die every year due to occupational accidents and approximately 1,700,000 people die due to occupational diseases. In the working life, where approximately 2,200,000 people lose their lives annually and approximately 600 people lose their lives daily, Occupational Health and Safety is one of the areas of work that needs to be addressed not only in the world but also in Turkey. Therefore, with the Occupational Health and Safety Law (Law No. 6331) published in the official gazette, professionals with occupational safety expertise certificate will provide the greatest support to the employer in occupational health and safety issues. Occupational health and safety professionals are specially trained, their professional competencies are secured and they are competent in the field of occupational health and safety. As in the private sector, public institutions and organizations are also obliged to employ occupational safety specialists. 

The occupational health and safety doctorate program is designed to train professionals who will assume the role of occupational safety specialist, who is obliged by law to work in private sector or public institutions and organizations. With the Law No. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety, businesses are obliged to employ occupational safety personnel and in order to reduce accidents and occupational diseases by developing the culture and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety in our country, to gain the functionality of new scientific and technical applications in this field, to prevent occupational accidents by producing innovative solutions based on scientific perspective, to contribute to national and international publications on Occupational Health and Safety issues and to train qualified personnel needed by various sectors are the important goals of our doctoral program.
